Groundbreaking Ceremony for Regional Sports Center Scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2

The Historic Triangle Recreational Facilities Authority (HTRFA) will host a ceremony for the groundbreaking of the regional indoor sports center at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2024.

The City of Williamsburg, James City County and York County have partnered to build and operate a 200,000-square-foot regional sports center through the Historic Triangle Recreational Facilities Authority on property adjacent to the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center in the City of Williamsburg. It is projected to open in 2026.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Williamsburg Mayor Douglas Pons, James City County Board of Supervisors Chair Ruth Larson, York County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Sheila Noll, and Colonial Williamsburg President & CEO Cliff Fleet, in addition to other special guests.
